Tiger's Eye - associated with the sun, provides psychic protection and enhances strength and confidence. Jade - associated with fertility, peace and harmony and provides guidance and inspiration. Traditional Southern Hemisphere Date December 21st - Traditional Northern Hemispehere Date June 21st Litha sees the whole world flush with fertility and fulfillment with the dawning of the longest day and the shortest night of the year.  We see the Goddess round with child and the Sun God reaching the height of his vigor.  This is the festival full of joy where we gather to celebrate our achievements almost manifest. The traditional focus of Litha is on honoring and celebrating the power and bounty of the Sun.  Traditionally bonfires would be lit atop the local hills to simulate and reflect the warmth and might of the Sun God shining down upon and blessing the world.  Once burnt down the ashes of these sacred fires were to be scattered over the surrounding fields to imbue them with the Sun Gods potency and ensure a bountiful harvest. Some modern Pagan faiths celebrate Litha as the eternal battle between the Oak or Summer King whose light and warmth reign over the lands at this time and the Holly or Winter King whose dominion has grown ever stronger with the lengthening days and reaches peak strength at midsummer as the Oak King spends the last of his on this one final long summer day.
